Hello Ai fans!
I had to fit in one last Halloween card with this adorable owl from the
Happy Meow-lloween Set 4786. I has a candy pail and is reaching for candy so I had to do something a bit different with it. I decided to make a background with the small piece of candy that came in the set. We used to do this all the time before we had patterned paper available.
Randomly stamp the candies all over your Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth card stock with a Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink because it's Alcohol Ink Friendly. Color in the candies. I used my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink markers because they are inexpensive and I love how they blend. I'll list the colors at the bottom of the post. Cut your paper out using the All Prettied Up Die From Mama Elephant. Stamp the owl on a separate piece of the same paper and color and cut out leaving a small border of white if you like that look.
Create the background on a piece of
Canson XL Cold Press XL Watercolor paper. Sponge on Four color of Distress Oxide Inks using the Tim Holtz Round blending foams. Start in the top corner with Fossilized Amber using a circular sweeping motion. Next come in with Spiced Marmalade Using the same motion next to the Spiced Marmalade blending the two together a little. Your next color will be Wilted Violet and your last color you use will be Black Soot. As you go through the colors blend them into each other using the previous color for smooth transitions. Once you have your background to your liking. Spray it with large drops of water using the Distress Sprayer or use your hands. After about 30 seconds pat the water off with a paper towel. Add some drops of Perfect Pearl Spray and let it air dry.
Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!

That's such a fun and sweet Halloween card !
Hi Jil
I didn't about the Simon Says inks but I don't use or own alcohol markers other than Sharpies. Great job on blending the oxides behind the owl. Love that technique. The candy bkg is perfection. Tfs. Tere
