Teenie Weenie Hugs Twist Tie Card

Hello Ai fans!

We're continuing to celebrate the release of the Twist Ties on the Ai blog with the Gatefold Cards Challenge. Check out the rules to see how you can enter for your chance to win some great prizes.  I'm using the Dog Twist Ties 4987. The set includes the stamps along with the matching dies.  The dies even cut the stitched hear windows.

I decided to try the no line coloring technique.  I always found it to be an odd name.  I think the name should be more like no black line coloring. Anyway, I followed the directions to make my own card.  If I wasn't doing a watercolor technique, I could have used the Twist Tie Card and Envelope 8 Pack 4983. I used Canson XL watercolor paper and folded my cards. I then stamped the dogs with a Tea Dye Distress ink pad on the edges of each edge of the card being sure to line up the bottom part of the stamp as instructed in the directions.

I painted the dogs with two different colors of Distress Ink Pads.  I used Tea Dye and Vintage Photo.  The one doe required a few extra pink details that I added in with Abandon Coral.  I colored in the bodies with Tee Dye and added the Vintage Photo details around the darker areas.  Once all of that dried completely, I added in the details like the eyes, nose, mouth and freckles with an almost dry brush and Vintage Photo ink.  I haven't tried this technique before because I expected it to be much harder than it was.  I know I'm going to do this technique more in the future.

For the background, I used three colors of Distress Ink Pads.  I used Wilted Violet, Abandon Coral and Cracked Pistachio. I added very loose areas of color around the heart and dog on each side.  I let each area dry and added another layer of darker color to the centers of each area of color.  Once those areas were dry, I spritzed them with water and let it sit for about thirty seconds.  Then I patted it dry with my paper towel.  The areas when the water was had turned white.  I was sure to protect the dog image while I was doing all of this.  I then edged my card front with a Pilot medium tip silver marker.

I made a second card using only one half of the twist tie dog image.  I colored it with all of the same colors.  I just filled in most of the background. When I added the top layer over a piece of red paper it looked a bit plain.  I ended up using Silver BoBunny glitter paste through a stencil to add some interest behind the heart.  I really like the resulting look.

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!
