Magic Slider Cards Without a Die Cut

Hello Everyone!

I'm blogging again after being quite sick.  I've put up a few video's, but no blog posts.  Sorry about that.  We went to a wedding in North Dakota with almost all of the family.  My oldest son, Kane, had to stay behind to work.  We missed him, but understand that work is always priority. The land there is so beautiful.  We enjoyed every minute of it, but it was also great to be home.

I love how older card making trends become new again.  One of them was shaker cards & the latest is the magic slider card.  When Lawn Fawn came out with the die cut set to make them I almost bought it, but I wasn't very eager to part with my $40.  In the back of my head I knew I could make my own without too much effort.  I also didn't think that I would make too many of them. Any of you that know me know that I have no problem buying things if I think I'll use them.  So I decided to design my own magic slider card without the dies.  I came up with a simple method & still have the money. I filmed the entire process, but the video didn't translate to my movie maker.  I'm not sure why.  I'll have to look into it.  I may just post it as is soon if I can't get it fixed to give you the idea of how I did it with the measurements.

Here is the raccoon card with the window closed.

As it starts opening.
Almost there.
Finally open.

I also did the same style of card using a dragon image for my husbands 30th birthday which was Tuesday.  It came out really cute & he just loved it.  This is a really fun card to make because it has that WOW factor. Here are some pics of the dragon card.

Here it is closed. I left off the sequins for his card.

I added the 30 die cut into the inside.  I left the dragons beard white so everything wasn't so dark.

Here is a closer view of the front.  Sorry about the glare.  I just love how this image came out.  The StazOn ink on the Acetate almost looks embossed.

I'll have the video up on you tube soon & I'll post it here.  As always the supplies are listed below.

Distress Oxide Painting & Background Featuring Lawn Fawn Hoppy Easter

I am in love with my Distress Oxide ink pads.  I just couldn't wait to get another chance to paint with them again.  I figured that it would be fun to do a cut image with them this time.  I also wanted to start some of my Easter cards.  I decided that it might be fun to make these bunnies look plastic like Easter eggs so I picked a few bright colors to paint them with.  I stamped them & their accessories onto my Strathmore 140 lb. watercolor paper using my Jet Black Archival ink.  I just painted with the Oxide ink using my #4 paint brush.  I added the shine marks towards the end after everything was dry.  I cut the images out, but you could use the matching die cuts.  The middle image is attached with a mini action wobble spring.  Right after I attached it in the video my cat saw it & started playing with it.  It's priceless!

The background is done onto a #8 manilla tag. I used the smooshing technique and three Distress Oxide inks.  I used Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio & Broken China.  The bunnies are painted with Wilted Violet, Broken Chine & Cracked Pistachio. The smooshing technique is rather simple.  You smoosh your ink pad onto your Ranger craft sheet & spray it with water, then take a piece of plastic & tap it into the ink & tap it onto your paper.  That is what created the drops on my background.  I find it gives me way more control & smaller dots.  You can see the entire technique in the video below.  Be sure to watch to the end to see Ceasar playing with the action wobble bunny.  It's really cute! Thanks for stopping by!  Jil

Otterly Adorable

I used the Mama Elephant Otterly Adorable stamp set for this card.  I absolutely love these super cut images.  They have accessories that can be added to their paws.  I colored the images using my new Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.  I' really liking how well they blend together so easily.  I added this set of three to the Distress Oxide background.  I framed everything up with the Mama Elephant Park Avenue Frame die in white.  I love the look!

They all look so happy just floating and swimming around.  I added some sparkling clear sequins to this card.

This card is very similar, but the background is the big difference.  It's done with Distress inks.  I added them over Tim Holtz watercolor paper.  I added the Perfect Pearl water & it really stands out.  I didn't feel like it needed any sequins.  I've linked the process video below.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I've provided links below to all of the supplies.  Compensated affiliate links are used at no cost to you.

Coloring with Distress Oxide Ink Pads

I made a beautiful tag with my Distress Oxide Inks using Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio & Wilted Violet.  I was sure to keep the colors light knowing I wanted to add my focal flowers over the image.  I had no idea if it was going to work, but I had to try.  I softened the edges with my Fossilized Amber Ink Pad using a foam pad.

My images were first stamped with gray ink.  I then colored them in using a mix of the Worn Lipstick & Wilted Violet Oxide Ink Pads as if they were watercolor.  I really like how the Cracked Pistachio ink came through from the background.  After everything was finished I used a Copic Multiliner to outline the image.  I needed a thicker pen, but it turned out great in all but one spot.  Isn't that how it always works out?

This video just shows how I painted the bottom flower.  I know I had footage of everything, but I have no idea where it all went.  i hope you enjoy seeing another way to use these fascinating inks.  Below you can find all of the supplies I used to create my card.  Compensated affiliate links used at no cost to you.
