Hap-pig Birthday

Hello Ai fans!

Today we're celebrating the release of the Funny Farm stamps on the Art Impressions Blog. I used the Guinea Pig Out Set 5003 to make a slider card with a hidden message as well as a bit of an unexpected twist.  Slider cards are quite easy to make if you just follow a few simple steps.

Here is as the guinea pig first begins to move across the card revealing it's message.

Here is what the card looks like after it has revealed the entire message.  I'm going to walk you though the entire process, but first here is how this card looks as you reveal the message when you pull the flag.

Here are the main supplies I used to create this fun card.

The guinea pig is stamped onto Bristol paper and colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.  I like use my #4 brush to add light layers of color.  I used Light Brown 61, Brown 60, Dark Brown 62, Light Gray 91 and Sugared Almond Pink 200.

I needed to add the greeting to the flag strip without the word hello.  That required some masking.  I added a piece of washi tape over the top row of words and inked up the stamp.

I removed the washi tape and stamped out the part of the stamp I needed.  After cleaning my stamp, I did the same thing for the top portion of the stamp. The flag measures 1" x 4 1/2" long.  I just cut the flag shape with my detail scissors.

I used Twisted Citron and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide inks to color the greeting flag as well as the hill. I blended the inks onto the Bristol paper with the round blending tools avoiding where I had stamped. The Distress Oxide ink will cover over the greeting. I spritzed them with water droplets and used a paper towel to dry off the water after about 30 seconds. I did the same process for the sky using Broken China Distress Oxide ink.

I placed all of the pieces out. As you can see, there is a bit over a quarter of an inch above the greeting on the flag.  that is so you don't see it through the slide tab.  I attached the sky and clouds to the card base.

I cut the smallest slider tab from the Slide On Over set.  Many companies have similar sets.  You could even cut a quarter inch wide track with a craft knife. I started mine under the guinea pig for the first cut and then lined up the second cut to stop about one inch from the end of the hill.  I used a T-Square ruler to line it up.

I attached the hill to the frame. I set the guinea pig image where I wanted it and  put washi tape on each side of it.  It served as a mask and to show me where to add the pellet stamp.  I ended up stamping it twice.

I colored the pellets in with the brown markers and used the light gray for the shadows. I placed the greeting flag behind the slider where I was sure no words were showing. I added four one quarter inch foam squares at the end of the slider before attaching the guinea pig.  before I pressed too hard, I made sure everything worked as I wanted.  If things aren't moving smooth, try using your anti-static tool.

I turned the entire piece over and added foam tape to everything.  Be sure to frame in the greeting flag.  I was sure to add anti-static powder to that area before I removed the backing from any of the foam tape.  Then I removed the foam tape and added it to my card base.

The last thin I did was add some Moonshine confetti to the sky. I hope you get a kick out of this card!

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!
